JIMMY VARGAS REVIEW by SARAH JAYNE from TRASHBAGGERY.COM
Blue Beat Bar and Grill is the perfect venue for those who want to take in the experience of great quality live music while enjoying a delicious meal from the in house grill and a drink from the bar.
Nestled within the heart of Double Bay, not too far from the city at 16 Cross Street, Blue Beat really is the place to be seen.
Trash Baggery were there on Wednesday 14th of December to experience the Jimmy Vargas and the Black Dahlias show titled Noirsville, which is a blend of crime jazz, blues and burlesque rolled into one great show.
The lights were dimmed low, jazz music played softly in the background and the crowd gathered in the seating area and enjoyed a meal as they waited for the show to begin. The Black Dahlias started off the set with a blues number and when Jimmy Vargas took to the stage you felt instantly transported back to 1947, an era where gangsters and molls ruled the streets and seedy jazz bars.
Jimmy crooned though all his greatest hits including Black Dahlia, The Girl You Left Behind and Tallulah’s Boudoir with his tantalising muse, Miss Liliana Scarlatta at his side, who danced around and added a dash of burlesque to the performance.
After a short break Jimmy returned to the stage and sung a few more of his hits as well as the all time classic song Fever, accompanied by the glamorous and talented Nikki Nouveau.
Noirsville will happen again on two more upcoming Wednesday nights, the 21st and the 28th of December at Blue Beat and through January and February the theme will continue with The Black Dahlias.
